  • Jeff Robertson

    Jeff Robertson is the Head Instructor at Folly Jiu Jitsu and a 2nd degree black belt under Scott Devine. A lifelong martial artist, Jeff started training BJJ in 2002 under Relson Gracie and Jerry Brewer. Jeff is a retired police Sergeant and a 26 year law enforcement veteran, where he was also the lead defensive tactics instructor at the Charleston Police Department. At Folly Jiu Jitsu, Jeff teaches kids classes, no-gi, and gi. Jeff also hosts a free class for Law Enforcement officers every Wednesday, with a focus on helping Law Enforcement officers become more effective and capable at safely navigating real world scenarios.

  • Tony Licari

    Tony Licari began training in 2008 in South Carolina with the Rigan Machado team. After moving to FL he joined a Rodrigo Pinheiro affiliate, and subsequently opened his own affiliate. Upon retiring from the Navy, Tony relocated back to Charleston and received his black belt from Scott Devine in 2018. He is married and father of 7 children.

  • Baird Hoffmire

    After dabbling in various striking based martial arts over the years, Baird found Judo, where has achieved his 2nd degree brown belt. He began training Brazilian Jiu Jitu in 2014 and received his black belt in 2021. Baird strives to combine his accumulated knowledge and love of martial arts in his teaching. His goal is to make BJJ fun and accessible for everyone.

  • J.P. Patterson

    J.P. is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with over a decade of experience. J.P. teaches our Advanced No-Gi classes, where he takes a formulaic approach to teaching. He focuses on logical pathways for techniques that force your opponent to choose between a rock and a hard place. J.P. strives to teach a style of BJJ applicable to everyone – not just strong, athletic, or flexible practitioners.

  • Andy Karn

    Andy has been training Jiu Jitsu since 2017 and holds a brown belt under Jeff Robertson. He has a wrestling background and specializes in “thicc boi” Jiu Jitsu. He worked as a Fireman/Paramedic for almost 20 years and currently works as an ICU nurse. In his free time Andy enjoys drinking beer and eating hot dogs with his dog.

  • Kris Smith

    Kris Smith is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Head Instructor Jeff Robertson. Kris has been training since 2015 and teaches No Gi classes in the morning. In his free time Kris enjoys surfing and music.

  • Josh Bennett

    Josh Bennett has been training BJJ since 2017, starting under Quentin Rosnweig in Atlanta, Georgia. He continued his training under Sean Applegate before moving to Charleston, South Carolina, where he received his purple and brown belts from Folly Jiu Jitsu instructors Jeff Robertson and J.P. Patterson. Josh teaches no-gi classes in the mornings and evenings.

  • Matt Williams

    Matt Williams has been training BJJ under Jeff Robinson since 2018. He is currently a purple belt training at Folly Jiu Jitsu a Devine Affiliate. Matt is a former active duty Marine and has trained in several different combat disciplines over the years. Some of his additional hobbies have included rugby, powerlifting, and bow hunting. Matt has a son, Sullivan, who has been training BJJ for one year; this has gotten him involved training the younger generation of BJJ enthusiasts. Matt also occasionally helps fill in training adult introduction classes as well. Matt has a well-developed Jiu Jitsu game that he continues to improve and he enjoys sharing his knowledge and skill with others. When it comes to pressure passing, methodical progression, and control he has become adept at not only executing technique but also helping instruct others to become more capable and better Jiu Jitsu athletes as well.
